Birthstone Ring Making Kit
Have an idea for the perfect ring that features your birthstone or that of someone special, but unable to find it? What if you could design and make it yourself?
The birthstone ring kit goes a step further with an extra layer of personalisation and a splash of colour! Whether treating yourself or a loved one, you can incorporate your birthstone or one for a child, partner, parent, pet, you decide! As long as there is space on the ring you can add as many as you like. Each stone also holds its own meaning, with some myths describing your birthstone as bringing you luck and joy. It might sound a little complicated, but not to worry! I’ll break it all down for you with step-by-step tutorials, so that you enjoy the process and make something beautiful. Wax carving is truly my favourite part of the the jewellery making process, which is why I’m excited to share this with you!
What’s included?
Two Jeweller’s Wax Ring Blanks (One for practice, the other to cast)
Two Double-ended Hand-tailored Carving Tools (These four carving tips will give you the best result with the most ease. They include: carving knife, scribe/detailing, 90° flat scraper and spoon scraper)
Double-ended Jeweller’s Wax File
Three Different Grades of Sandpaper & Filing Sticks
Sharpie (To draw your design on your ring)
Ring Sizer (To determine / double check your ring size)
Detailed Instructions & Access to a Series of Online How-to Videos
Ring Tin, Details Form & Envelope to send back your piece to be cast & polished
A sweet little cotton bag to keep your kit in
What will my ring be made of?
You have three options! You can choose from:
Solid Brass
Solid .925 Solid Sterling Silver
18k Gold Vermeil, which is a thick coat of 18k Gold plated onto Solid .925 Sterling Silver
How wide can I make my ring?
The wax for the birthstone ring is 4mm wide.
Can I add more stones?
Yes! There is a charge of £35 per additional 2mm CZ birthstone for the stone and labour.
How does it work?
When your kit arrives in the mail you can follow along with our included Guide, Tutorial Videos, and start carving! Once you’re finished, simply fill out the Ring Form to specify your ring size, selected finish and colour/placement of the stones you’d like set. Then place your ring in the tin provided and use the pre-addressed envelope to mail it back. Once we receive your ring we’ll size it to right size, set the stones, then cast it into the metal of your choice. Finally we will hand polish the ring to your preference and ship it back to you!!
